Requirements

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS

Police Officers must reside within 45 driving miles of Police Headquarters. Any applicants hired must also reside within 45 driving miles prior to completion of the probationary period and continue within that range thereafter while so employed.

An annual $200 bonus will be paid to each member, who has resided within the Borough (as the member’s bona fide primary residence) as of January 1 for the prior 12 consecutive months.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or GED is required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be over 20 years old to apply and be 21 years old at the time of graduation.

Must be a U.S. Citizen

Must have a valid PA Driver’s License

Minority and bilingual applicants are strongly encouraged to apply as special consideration will be given to bilingual applicants.

Qualifications

PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST

All applicants must satisfactorily complete the MPOETC Physical Fitness Assessment Standards, for the entrance to and retention into the Police Academy.

1.5 Mile
Run

This is a cumulative test and all events must be completed within two (2) hours.

You must pass the physical test in order to move on to take the written test.

WRITTEN TEST

You are required to take the Civil Service Municipal Police Officer Test and must have a minimum passing score of 70%.  Tutoring is available to help you prepare for the test.
