The Accident Reconstruction Team is a team of officers specially trained to investigate the most serious accidents, which usually involve a fatality or serious injury. While they are not called to investigate every accident (collision), they do provide a valuable service to the department and to the community in trying to determine the exact cause of a crash. Their training enables them to determine factors such as estimated speed during the crash, seat belt use, faulty vehicle equipment, etc.
